Give yourself a break.

Everyone has a bad day once in a while. No one can be up 24/7. It’s OK to be emotional, have a day or just not feel like engaging. Those days when life just doesn’t seem fair. Emotions that well up out of nowhere. The day when the world is against you.

The question isn’t,

“Why am I feeling this way?”

The question is,

“What am I going to do about how I feel?”

May I suggest that you:

Give yourself a break? Take a nap. Go for a walk. Order take-out (hopefully something healthy). Take in a good movie; preferably a funny one. Laughter is good medicine (Proverbs 7:22). Play with a dog. Spend 10 minutes in the sun (if you can find it).

Can’t get away from your desk? Listen to music, sing along. It will lift your spirits. Surf Pinterest for “funny” but set a timer because that can really get away from you. Make a last minute appointment for after work; something you can look forward to like a massage, manicure, hair cut or facial.

What NOT to do:

Don’t eat a whole tub of ice cream

Don’t yell at your kids, it’s not their fault

Don’t make any decisions that could alter your game plan

Don’t allow yourself to fall into a depression

Don’t run away from home (even if you really want to)

Don’t make a deal with the Shadow Man

Don’t quit your job and join the circus

Don’t join Dauntless

Don’t become a doomsday prepper

Don’t steal the moon
